Police in Katsina State have arrested the principal and a former vice principal of Government Secondary School, Shargalle, in Dutsi Local Government Area over the alleged theft of school property.
Sources disclosed that the case, which has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for investigation, is linked to a reported break-in at the school on January 19, 2026, at about 6:00 a.m.
During the incident, unknown persons allegedly burgled the premises and made away with inverter batteries and other laboratory equipment.
Zagazola Makama reliably gathered that investigations traced the theft to the school’s principal, Bashir Musa, 58, of Shadambu Low Cost, Daura, and the former vice principal, Abubakar Aliyu, 48, of Shargalle.
Items recovered from the principal’s residence reportedly include four solar panels, five desktop computers, three CPU units, one solar battery, one printer and two hair clippers, all said to belong to the school.
Police sources said the principal confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Authorities added that efforts are ongoing to recover other stolen items and identify additional suspects, as investigations into the matter continue.
