Police bust drug ring in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered 2,000 tablets of suspected Diazepam in a crackdown on illicit drug trafficking in Funtua Local Government Area.

The operation led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jibrin Salisu, who was intercepted by operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, during a routine anti-crime patrol on June 15, 2026.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, officers searched Salisu after stopping him on a motorcycle and discovered two sachets containing the suspected illicit drugs.

During interrogation, Salisu allegedly confessed that he had received the drugs from a 26-year-old woman, Faith Eze, and was transporting them to an accomplice identified only as “Gurgu,” who remains on the run.

Acting on the information, police operatives launched a follow-up operation that resulted in the arrest of Eze, who also reportedly admitted her involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The command said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and dismantle the criminal network behind the operation.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and substance abuse. He warned individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to desist or face the full weight of the law.
