Police commissioner removes Lagos DPO over extortion

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered the immediate removal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okokomaiko, SP Emmanuel Edebagha, for the lack of supervision of the division’s officers.

The officers of the division were said to have falsely labelled a phone dealer in Lagos as a fraudster and extorted N100,000 from him.

Speaking on the incident via a tweet on his verified Twitter account on Saturday, April 15, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Owohunwa has ordered immediate disciplinary action against the DPO and all the officers involved in the alleged extortion.

“CP Idowu Owohunwa has ordered the immediate removal of DPO Okokomaiko for his lack of supervision of his men.

“CP Owohunwa has also ordered the commencement of disciplinary action against him and all his indicted officers (who are already in the state headquarters),” Hundeyin stated.
