The operatives of the Borno State Police Command have diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri, the state capital.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident in Maiduguri on Tuesday.
Daso said a suspicious device was noticed near the main gate of the university at about 9 a.m. on Monday, December 4.
He disclosed that the command swiftly deployed officers of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team to the scene, who confirmed that the device was a fabricated IED.

“In swift response, the Command’s Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) swung into action and successfully diffused the IED, without loss of lives or property,” he added.
The police spokesman stated that the command also sanitised the area to ensure it was safe, adding that an investigation to uncover the perpetrators and their motive was ongoing.
Daso, however, urged the residents of Borno State to report any suspicious objects or persons to the nearest security outfit nearest to them to avert loss of lives and properties.
