Police foil bandits’ attack, rescue passengers on Adoka road

Police operatives in Benue State have successfully foiled an attack by armed bandits along Adoka Road, rescuing passengers who had been trapped during the incident.

The attack occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when bandits ambushed vehicles travelling on the route.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) swiftly mobilised patrol teams and tactical units to confront the attackers.

On arrival at the scene, the operatives engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat into the bush and abandon the stranded passengers.

The rescued victims were taken to the police station for safety, while those who sustained injuries were transported to St. Charles Hospital, Adoka, for medical attention.

Security sources said search operations are ongoing in the surrounding bush to track down the fleeing attackers, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has launched a full investigation into the incident.

The Command has reassured residents of heightened patrols along major routes and urged motorists to promptly report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
