How to apply for 2025/2026 Nigeria police recruitment

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has opened the application portal for the recruitment of Police Constables and Specialist personnel for the 2025/2026 exercise.

The recruitment drive, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, targets 50,000 new officers to strengthen national security and enhance the police’s ability to tackle rising crime and insecurity across the country.

The online application portal will open from December 15, 2025, and will close on January 25, 2026.

Below is a detailed guide for applicants:

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be Nigerian citizens by birth.

Be physically, mentally, and medically fit.

Be free from financial embarrassment.

Have no criminal record and be of good character.

Age Requirements:

General Duty: 18–25 years

Specialists: Up to 28 years

Female candidates must not be pregnant during training.

Physical Requirements:

General Duty (Male): Minimum height 1.67m; chest 86cm

General Duty (Female): Minimum height 1.64m

Step 2: Confirm Academic Qualifications

General Duty: At least five credits in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB, including English and Mathematics.

Specialists: At least four credits and a minimum of three years’ relevant trade experience, plus Trade Test Certificates.

Step 3: Prepare Required Documents (Soft Copies)

First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)

SSCE/NECO results

Birth certificate

Certificate of State or Local Government of Origin

Specialists must also upload:

Trade Test Certificates

Valid Driver’s Licence (for driver positions)

Applicants must have:

National Identification Number (NIN)

Active email address

Mobile phone number

Ensure all documents are correctly uploaded before submission.

A. General Duty

Police Constables

B. Specialist Cadre

Includes roles in:

Medical: Medical Assistants

Transport: Drivers, Mechanics, Auto-Electricians, Dispatch Riders

EOD/CBRN: Forensic Assistants, General Operatives

K9 Unit: Dog Handlers

Mounted Troop: Horse Riders

Marine: Deckhands, Divers, Engineers, Boat Mechanics

Artisans: Electricians, Plumbers, Welders, AC/Refrigeration Technicians

Tailoring: Tailors

ICT & Communications: Technicians and Operators

Band Section: Musical Equipment Specialists

Step 6: Prepare for Screening

Shortlisted candidates will undergo:

Medical and physical fitness tests

Aptitude assessments

Background and character verification

Step 7: Observe Recruitment Rules

The PSC emphasises that the recruitment exercise is free, transparent, and strictly merit-based.
