Troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, have recovered 63 bodies of Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters following a failed attack on Malam Fatori.
Military sources said the insurgents launched the assault in the early hours of Wednesday, advancing on foot and deploying armed drones in an attempt to overrun the 68 Battalion position.
The attack, which originated from the Duguri axis through the Bravo Company frontage, was repelled by troops with the support of coordinated airstrikes.
According to the sources, the joint air and ground response inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, leading to a decisive defeat during the encounter.
“After the engagement and follow-up clearance operations, 63 bodies of the terrorists were recovered within and around Malam Fatori, highlighting the scale of losses suffered,” a source said.
The Air Component was said to have carried out multiple interdiction missions, delivering precise strikes on identified enemy positions and significantly weakening their operational capacity.
The coordinated effort between air and ground forces forced the remaining fighters to retreat in disarray towards the Arege axis.
