The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued an 80-year-old man, Rufus Odusanya, and one Oluwaseye Olajide after being kidnapped by gunmen at Edun village in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Odutola said the victims were kidnapped by gunmen at about 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31.
Odutola stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode Egba received a distress call reporting the abduction of the 80-year-old man and one other.
She stated that upon getting the information, the DPO quickly mobilised his team along with local hunters to pursue the kidnappers.

The police spokesperson said the kidnappers, six in number, were armed with various weapons such as rifles and cutlasses.
Odutola noted: “The police blocked potential escape routes and confined the criminals to known security checkpoints.
“Realising that the police had interrupted their plans, the kidnappers fled the scene, leaving the two hostages behind.”
Odutola added that detectives were on the trail of the kidnappers.
