Police sack 4 officers for killing 7 traders in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the dismissal of four police officers over their involvement in the killings of seven traders in the Owode Onirin area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, announced this on Thursday, March 5, 2026, noting that an investigation into the Owode Onirin killings was ongoing.

Jimoh said the dismissed officers, brought from Nasarawa State by the principal suspect, Ariori, were involved in the killings.

Jimoh assured the public of justice, citing ballistic and autopsy reports guiding prosecution.

He said: “This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done.

“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone.

“All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case.”

The police commissioner emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to its constitutional duty of maintaining law and order, saying no individual or group can obstruct the course of justice.

Jimoh disclosed that 98 per cent of the investigation has been concluded, adding that the police will keep taking action to protect Lagos State.

Jimoh urged residents and traders to stay alert, assuring them that the police are committed to safety and justice.

The incident occurred during a clash between landgrabbers and traders in the Owode Onirin area of Lagos in August 2025.
