Police spokesman: Why I don’t collect bribe

Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has declared that he doesn’t collect a bribe.

Adejobi said it is taboo for him as a prince to collect bribes.

He equally described the collection of a bribe as “ungodly”, saying putting smiles on people’s faces is “Godly and rewarding”.

The police spokesman, a prince to Oba Moses Adejobi, the late Olowu of Orile-Owu, in the Ayedade Local Government Area of Osun State, said this while fielding a question from X (formerly Twitter) user Valentine Kruze, who asked him if he had collected a bribe.

“Have u taken bribe before?” Kruze asked.

Responding, Adejobi wrote: “No. It’s a taboo for a royal prince to take a bribe. Taking bride definitely makes someone somewhere cry for many reasons, and it’s ungodly to do so.

Police dismiss Inspector for N29.8m robbery, demote 3 others

“Your main purpose in life is to put smiles on people’s faces. It’s Godly and rewarding. It’s my personal principle and a call to duty. I preach this to my colleagues and many others always.

“May we have the grace to remain steadfast and purposeful in life.”

The Star recalls that the NPF recently dismissed one Inspector Adabo Mohammed for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and corrupt practice.

The Inspector, according to a statement issued by Adejobi, was dismissed for his alleged involvement in the robbery of the sum of N29.8 million from a victim in the Gwagwalada area of Abuja and the abduction of one Ikechukwu Emmanuel Okafor in Tunga Manje.

The police spokesperson revealed that the trio of Inspectors Osagie Efford, Semiu Agbekin, and Francis Ahuen, attached to the Special Tactical Squad (STS), were also demoted to their previous rank of Sergeant for the extortion of some motorists in Abuja.

The Inspectors were said to have intercepted an unregistered Mercedes Benz at Gwarinpa, Abuja, and forced the occupants to part with the total sum of N29.4 million.
