The Lagos State Police Command says it has intensified security across schools, worship centres, markets, recreational facilities and major event venues following recent attacks in parts of the country.
Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Jimoh, told journalists in Ikeja that special squads have been deployed to protect schools and monitor strategic locations to prevent criminal infiltration.
He said waterways are now better secured with 26 newly launched gunboats, alongside a Submarine Tactical Squad and expanded land patrols through the EkoStrike Force.
The command has also increased its tactical teams from 23 to 35, with plans to reach 57 so each local government and LCDA gets a dedicated response unit.
Jimoh announced that 56 suspects were arrested in November for offences ranging from armed robbery and kidnapping to fraud and assault.
Police also recovered nine stolen vehicles, one motorcycle, six firearms, various weapons, military camouflage, charms and fake $4,000.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies, stressing that the security situation in Lagos “is not alarming” and remains firmly under control.
