Police strengthens security ahead of Tinubu’s visit to Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified security arrangements ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit on Monday, during which he is expected to commission major projects completed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

In a statement on Saturday, the police spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the heightened security is aimed at preventing any breaches before, during, and after the president’s visit.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has been placed on high alert, with manpower and operational assets deployed across all parts of the state,” the statement read.

Nguroje noted that Commissioner of Police Dankwambo Morris held a strategic meeting with senior officers and security commanders to review and strengthen existing measures. Operational units deployed include the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd and Traffic Control Unit. Covert surveillance operations will also be conducted throughout the state.

To maintain public order, personnel have been stationed to monitor potential flashpoints in Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas. Additional measures include enhanced surveillance, confidence-building patrols, traffic restrictions near event venues, and deployment of anti-bomb squads to sweep roads and locations where the president will appear.

The police command said it is working in close coordination with other security agencies to ensure a smooth and secure visit. Residents were urged to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
