Police uncover fake herbicide factory, arrest four suspects in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has dismantled an illegal factory producing counterfeit herbicides and arrested four individuals linked to the operation.
This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil.
He said the arrests followed a tip-off that prompted detectives from the Monitoring Unit to raid a residential property in Unguwan Liman, Bauchi, around 1:30 p.m. on May 3, 2025.
Those apprehended at the scene include Usman Suleman, 21, of Karofin Madaki; Ahmad Musa, 20, of Wuntin Dada; and Muhammad Nuhu, 17, of Fadaman Mada.
The trio was caught in the process of producing fake herbicide products.
A thorough search of the premises uncovered various incriminating materials including 26 cartons branded as “Force Up,” an empty “Gobora” carton, two plastic drums containing unidentified liquids, two buckets, 100 empty one-litre containers labeled “Force Up,” sealing tapes, super glue, leather materials, charcoal, welding spoons, and a charcoal stove.
Further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect, Muhammad Muhammad, 36, of Fadaman Mada, who was identified as a major figure in the operation.
All four suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The police have pledged to intensify efforts to eliminate such illegal and dangerous activities in the state.
