Pope Leo XIV on Monday brushed aside a brewing public dispute with US President Donald Trump, saying he had no interest in engaging in a political back-and-forth with the American leader.
“I am not a politician. I have no intention to debate with him.
“The message is the same: to promote peace,” the pope told reporters aboard the papal plane.
The pontiff made the remarks as he flew to Algeria for his first visit to Africa, days after Trump criticised him over comments the pope made regarding the US-Iran war.
