Rarara slams Davido over insecurity comments

Hausa political singer, Dauda Adamu, popularly known as Rarara, has criticised Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, for highlighting Nigeria’s insecurity challenges during the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert.

Davido had performed at the global event wearing a jacket bearing the inscription “Bring Them Home,” alongside the names of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.

The victims were among 46 persons kidnapped during attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15.

After his performance, Davido expressed concern on social media, saying he remained prayerful for the victims and their families and would continue to represent Nigerians with pride.

Reacting in a Facebook video, Rarara described Davido’s action as “barbaric,” accusing him of portraying Nigeria negatively before an international audience.

He argued that sensitive security issues should not be projected globally in a way that could damage the country’s image.

Rarara also questioned the motive behind the display of the victims’ names, alleging political undertones and suggesting that the singer was attempting to discredit the current administration.

He maintained that insecurity should not be used as a political tool, adding that the issue was complex and required careful handling.

The singer further claimed that the Oyo abductions were linked to attempts by terrorists to pressure authorities following the arrest of some of their members, stating that security agencies had refused to negotiate with the abductors and were working to secure the victims’ release.

Rarara warned that some content creators could unintentionally amplify narratives that undermine national interests, arguing that countries often regulate the public projection of sensitive security matters.
