Reps move to introduce AI learning as part of constituency projects

The House of Representatives is considering incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning into lawmakers’ constituency projects to boost human capital development and strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy.

Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu disclosed this on Saturday during a visit to the Bildup AI Learning Hub in Enugu, where young Nigerians are receiving AI-based training.

He was accompanied by the House Majority Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, and other members of the Constitution Review Committee.

Kalu said the initiative would empower young Nigerians with digital skills needed to compete globally and position the country as a hub for technology-driven innovation.

“We need to expand what you are doing, and that is where government partnership comes in,” Kalu said.

“We will make a case for you in the Ministries of Education and Science and Technology.

“My office will partner with you to showcase your work because human capital development is key.

“This is not about politics—it’s about national progress.”

He noted that with the right support, Nigerian youths could leverage AI education to offer digital services to global tech companies while earning foreign exchange.

“This will help us produce more service providers who can stay in Nigeria and work remotely for companies like Oracle, Facebook, and Instagram while earning in foreign currency,” he added.

“Keep innovating and dreaming—the future is bright.”

Kalu encouraged his colleagues in the National Assembly to establish AI learning hubs in their constituencies, describing Bildup’s model as “accessible, affordable, and transformative.”

“Bildup has simplified learning and made it reachable to all. It’s time we make it part of our constituency projects so that more students can learn and build,” he said.

“Human capacity development is the foundation of progress.”

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Bildup AI, Chibuike Aguene, described the platform as Africa’s first indigenous AI-powered learning system capable of teaching and interacting with students like a human tutor.

According to him, the innovation tackles the teacher-student ratio challenge by providing personalized, one-on-one learning experiences through artificial intelligence.

“Imagine every student having access to the world’s best teacher on a one-to-one basis,” Aguene said.

“This technology bridges the learning gap and ensures even students in remote areas have equal access to quality education.”

He added that Bildup AI features a career mentorship component that helps learners discover their interests and connect with global job opportunities through an integrated digital marketplace.

Aguene also noted that the project aligns with the Federal Government’s recent policy mandating technology skills in the national school curriculum, describing the platform’s emergence from the South East as “a source of pride for Nigeria.”

“It’s a proud moment for our region and a win for every Nigerian innovator,” he said.

“We’re not replacing teachers—we’re empowering them to do more.”
