Senator clinches Jigawa senatorial ticket following candidate’s death

Senator Mohammad Sabo Nakudu representing Jigawa South-West senatorial district has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West Senatorial ticket.

Nakudu won the primary by-election in Dutse to fill the vacuum created by the death of the APC senatorial candidate, Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya.

A statement by the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, said that the chairman of the election committee, Alhaji Umar Shehu, declared Sabo the winner of the primary election conducted at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, the state capital.

According to him, Sabo who ran unopposed polled 375 votes out of the 375 cast in the election.

“Senator Sabo Muhammad is declared the winner of the election with 375 votes,” he said.

Nakudu was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2011 before moving to the Senate to represent Jigawa South-West Senatorial District in 2015 and got re-elected in 2019.

Nakudu lost the APC primary election to the late Gaya.
