Stock market bullish run continues as investors gain N369bn

The Nigerian stock market extended its bullish rally on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as investors gained N369 billion.

This was driven by sustained demand for stocks such as Trans-Nationwide Express, International Energy Insurance, UPDC, Guinea Insurance, Regency Alliance Insurance, and 25 others.

The market traded 652.86 million shares worth N39.82 billion in 51,101 transactions.

This is compared to 1.01 billion shares valued at N40.57 billion that was exchanged across 52,723 deals on Wednesday.

Analysis of the market revealed a 35.17 per cent decline in volume, two per cent drop in value and three per cent fall in deals.

The market capitalisation rose by 0.28 per cent, or N369 billion, opening at N130.404 trillion and closing at N130.773 trillion, while the All-Share Index appreciated by 576.27 points, or 0.28 per cent, to close at 203,161.81, up from 202,585.54.

This led the Year-to-Date return to a growth of 30.56 per cent.

However, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 31 losers and 30 gainers.

Naira trades N1,359/$ at official market

LivingTrust Mortgage Bank topped the losers’ chart by 10 per cent, ending the session at N4.32, RT Briscoe followed by 9.94 per cent, closing at N8.88, while Tantalizers lost by 9.55 per cent, settling at N3.98 per share.

Livestock Feeds fell by 9.40 per cent, closing at N6.75, and VFD Group declined by 8.85 per cent, finishing at N10.30 per share.

Conversely, Trans-Nationwide Express led the gainers’ chart by 9.94 per cent, closing at N3.43, International Energy Insurance trailed by 9.84 per cent, settling at N3.46, and UPDCredit gained by 9.63 per cent, finishing at N7.40 per share.

Guinea Insurance increased by 9.52 per cent, ending the session at N1.15, while Regency Alliance Insurance rose by 9.18 per cent, closing at N1.07 per share.

Access Corporation recorded the highest volume, with 121.70 million traded shares, while Guaranty Trust Holding Company recorded the highest value at N8.10 billion.
