Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has emerged as the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Sokoto South.
Tambuwal, who was a presidential aspirant, announced his withdrawal from the PDP presidential race at the primaries held in Abuja last and asked his supporters to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who later emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

The governor had previously represented Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where he served as the Speaker of the House in his third term.
Governor Tambuwal will, however, contest for the senatorial seat against the incumbent, Senator Danbaba Dambuwa, who recently dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
