TCEF hosts 14th annual quiz, debate competition for Lagos students

The Total Child Educational Foundation (TCEF) has hosted the 14th edition of its Annual Quiz and Debate Competition, bringing together students from various schools in Lagos to compete in academic and intellectual activities aimed at promoting excellence and critical thinking.

The event, held at the foundation’s premises in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, featured participants from schools within the Aguda Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and Police Children Schools.

Organisers said the competition forms part of TCEF’s longstanding commitment to improving educational outcomes and empowering young learners through academic programmes and capacity-building initiatives.

According to the foundation, the annual event provides a platform for students to showcase their knowledge, develop self-confidence, improve public speaking skills and cultivate leadership qualities.

Participants were tested in a range of subjects and skills, including General Knowledge, Mathematics, English Language, Debate, Public Speaking, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving.

The programme featured inter-school quiz sessions, debate contests, awards for outstanding students and opportunities for interaction among educators, school administrators and other stakeholders in the education sector.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, the foundation noted that the competition goes beyond academic rivalry and is designed to inspire a lifelong passion for learning among children.

For more than a decade, TCEF has implemented educational support programmes across Nigeria, including scholarship schemes, teacher development initiatives, school support projects and community-based interventions aimed at improving access to quality education.

The foundation said it remains committed to nurturing future leaders and creating opportunities that enable children to achieve their full potential.

Parents, educators, community leaders and development partners were also encouraged to support initiatives that promote educational advancement and academic excellence among young Nigerians.

The Total Child Educational Foundation (TCEF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to expanding access to quality education through scholarships, academic competitions, teacher training programmes and other educational development projects across Nigeria.
