Teenager dies in Kano after fight over water

A 17-year-old boy, Musa Muhammad, has died following a fight with his childhood friend over tap water in the Rijiyar Lemo area of Kano State.

According to a statement from the Kano State Police Command, the incident occurred on Saturday around 11:00 a.m.

The boy’s father, Muhammad Haruna, reported the case to the Bachirawa Police Station, stating that his son had gone to fetch water when he got into an argument with his 16-year-old friend, Muhammad Aliyu. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a fight, during which the suspect allegedly struck Musa in the face, causing him to collapse.

Musa was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His remains were later released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Police confirmed that the suspect is in custody while investigations continue.
