A 19-year-old boy, Oluwaferanmi Olasupo, has drowned in an abandoned quarry pool at Eseke Village in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Odutola said the victim’s grandfather, Sunday Olaseinde, reported the incident at the Divisional Police station at about 6:39 p.m on Friday.

Odutola stated that upon receiving the information, law enforcement officers, along with a surveillance team, swiftly mobilised to the scene to rescue the victim.

She revealed that due to poor visibility at night, rescue efforts were postponed, adding that local divers had been contacted to assist in retrieving the body from the pool.

The police spokesperson said: “The Divisional Police Officer has launched an investigation and search operation following the tragic drowning of 19-year-old Oluwaferanmi Olasupo.
