No fewer than six persons have been confirmed dead following a thunderstorm in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed this in a statement on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Nguroje said the incident occurred at about 4; 00 p.m. on Sunday in the Dadiri-Tirigali area of Adamawa State during a heavy rainfall.
Nguroje said the command received an emergency report from the Ganye Divisional Headquarters on the natural disaster.

The police spokesman stated: “The report said that lightning had struck nine persons who were working on a farm in the village.
“On receipt of the report, personnel from the division were promptly deployed to the scene, who on reaching there found the victims lying unconscious on the ground.
“Three of the victims later regained consciousness, while the remaining six were confirmed dead by medical personnel.”
