President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.
Engr. Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer with a PhD in Strategic Management and other qualifications. He is expected to bring his expertise to bear in leading the commission.
Also nominated are Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
The nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
To prevent a leadership vacuum at the commission, President Tinubu has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity pending his confirmation by the Senate, in line with legal provisions.
The President urged the nominees to deploy their knowledge and experience to advance his administration’s power sector reforms and improve electricity regulation in the country
