President Bola Tinubu has approved the inclusion of Itawure-Aramoko-Ado Ekiti and Aramoko-Ijero-Ifaki Ekiti roads construction in the 2026 budget of the Federal Government.
The development was sequel to the visit of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, November 9, 2025, as issues concerning the condition of federal roads in Ekiti were discussed.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, in a statement on Thursday, November 13, disclosed that a letter directing the road construction has since been forwarded from the Office of the President to the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
There has been some public outcry over the deplorable condition of some federal roads in Ekiti State, particularly the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado road.
Oyebode stated that the federal government has awarded three of such roads in the state, noting that contractors have been mobilised to site.

Oyebode said the Oyebanji administration has also constructed one of the deplorable roads – the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road – in addition to other inter-city and intra-city road projects the state government has embarked on in the last three years.
He noted that when constructed, the two newly approved roads will further ease travelling, enhance connectivity across different parts of the country, boost commercial activities, and open up Ekiti State to greater economic opportunities and development.
The governor’s aide quoted Oyebanji as thanking Tinubu for his strategic intervention in the socioeconomic and infrastructure development of Ekiti State, as well as other support the president has provided for the state.
“The Government of Ekiti State, under the leadership of Governor Oyebanji is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of the citizens of the State and would continue to collaborate with the Federal Government, institutions, private sector players and development agencies in its development efforts,” he added.
