Tinubu: Buhari did his best for Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu says his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, did his best for the country.

Tinubu described Buhari as an honest and patriotic leader, saying the former President is a worthy partner and friend.

The President made the declaration in his inaugural speech shortly after his swearing-in at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, May 29, 2023.

He said: “Permit me to say a few words to my predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari. Mr President, you have been an honest, patriotic leader who has done his best for the nation you love.

“On a more personal note, you are a worthy partner and friend. May History be kind to you.”

Tinubu stated that his government would continue the efforts of Buhari’s administration on infrastructure, adding: “Progress toward national networks of roads, rail, and ports shall get priority attention.”
