Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has cancelled the colloquium for his 70th birthday on Tuesday.
He hinged the decision on the terrorists’ attack on Abuja-Kaduna-bound train on Monday night.
“This event should not hold. I hereby cancel this colloquium due to the incident in Kaduna. I urge you all to pray that Nigeria win this war against evil,” Tinubu said.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential hopeful announced the cancellation at the beginning of the programme at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
He announced one-minute silence for the departed souls.
Several dignitaries were already at the venue of the event.
Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, another billionaire, Mr. Femi Otedola, and governors were already at the venue.
The 2022 edition of annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium was to peruse emerging global development issues.
The colloquium was to also examine the importance of good governance for Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari was expected to Chair the event while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State is the chief host.
Prof. Olufemi Bamiro, former vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, was expected to be the keynote speaker on “Pivoting Nigeria into the New World Order: Imperatives of Good Governance.”
The panel discussion to be moderated by Tomilayo Akanni-Aluko was to have Mr. Bosun Tijani, Chief Executive Officer of Co-Creation Hub, as the Lead Discussant.
Other panelists included Mr. Samson Ogbole, Managing Director, Soiless Farms; Temie Giwa-Tubosun, Group Chief Executive, Life Bank; Kikelomo Fola-Ogunniya, Co-founder, Jand2Gidi and Lot Madaki, Chief Executive Officer, Madaki Shoes.

No fewer than 970 passengers were said to be on board when the train was attacked.
The train departed Abuja 6p.m., and was expected to arrive Kaduna 8p.m.
But the train was attacked at about 7.45p.m.
