Tinubu congratulates Oyebanji on re-election, urges inclusive governance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a vote of confidence in continuity and people-centred governance.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election and for reposing their trust in the governor.

Tinubu also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.

The President noted that Oyebanji’s first term recorded significant progress in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO agenda.

According to him, the governor’s overwhelming victory reflects the confidence of Ekiti people in his administration’s policies and programmes.

Tinubu urged the re-elected governor to remain magnanimous in victory and carry all residents of the state along as he consolidates on his achievements over the next four years.

The President further commended other candidates who participated in the election for exercising their democratic rights, urging them to support Oyebanji in advancing the development of the state.

He also charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue conducting peaceful, free, fair and credible elections ahead of the Osun governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

He also prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
