Tinubu meets Yahaya Bello behind closed doors

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is currently meeting with the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, behind closed doors at the latter’s residence in Abuja.

Although the details of the meeting could not be ascertained as of press time, it was gathered that it may not be unconnected with the part of reconciliatory moves to pacify aggrieved aspirants of the APC presidential ticket.

Governor Bello had recently lost the presidential ticket of the ruling party to Tinubu.

The governor garnered 47 votes at the primaries held between Tuesday and Wednesday at Eagle Square in Abuja, while Tinubu polled 1271 votes to emerge as the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.

The APC national leader was accompanied to the meeting on Friday by Governors  Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), and Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano).

Also at the meeting was a former governor of Edo State and former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The latest development is coming barely 24 hours after Tinubu visited President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

APC national leader met with the President first before going to the residence of the Vice President who was one of his opponents in the party’s presidential primaries.

Speaking to State House correspondents after his meeting with Buhari, Tinubu, said he came to the Presidential Villa for a thank you visit.
