President-Elect Bola Tinubu
“My chances of winning the ticket are incredibly high and I am very confident. I am sure I can and I will win it.”
These were the words of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, one of the presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday after an interaction with delegates in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, expressed confidence at winning the presidential ticket of the ruling party.
He explained that his chances of winning the presidential ticket of APC were on a very high side due to his political pedigree.
When asked about his position on an option of consensus arrangement by the party, Tinubu said he preferred a process of democracy to choose the APC flag bearer.
“I want democracy, I am voting for democracy; One man, One vote,” he said.
Tinubu urged the delegates to see him as their partner and have confidence in him and his abilities.
“It’s the confidence Lagosians have in me and my team in 1999 and 2003 that has propelled the state to its present level where Lagos is the sixth largest economy in Africa,” he said.
Many APC presidential aspirants good for democracy, says Tinubu
Tinubu urged APC members in Taraba to resolve their differences and forge a united front, stating that unity was key to victory in the state.
“You must resolve your differences and put your house in order. We will work with you on this. One important thing you need is unity of purpose,” he said.
Recalling some of the great citizens of the states with whom he served in the Senate, he mentioned late Senator U.J Yohanna whom he described as a detribalised Nigerian who worked hard for Nigeria’s democracy.
Joining Asiwaju Tinubu on his visit to the two states were former governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima; Chairman of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam; former EFCC Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and House of Representatives member, Hon. James Faleke.
