President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State ahead of the 2026 election.
Oyebamiji emerged as the party’s flag bearer following the APC primary election held on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital, where delegates unanimously affirmed his candidature.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Osun State chapter of the APC for the unity and spirit of reconciliation that characterised the primary election, which was conducted through affirmation.
Tinubu also praised other aspirants who stepped down in support of Oyebamiji, describing their action as a demonstration of party loyalty and collective commitment to the ideals of the APC.
The President urged the governorship candidate to be magnanimous in victory by carrying along party leaders and former aspirants, stressing the need for inclusivity and cohesion as the party prepares for the general election.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” Tinubu said.
“I urge all members and leaders of the APC in the state to remain focused, united and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed.”
The primary election was chaired by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo.
