Tinubu to visit France, Kenya, Rwanda for key summits

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for official visits to France, Kenya and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic engagements.

According to a State House statement issued on Friday, the President will first travel to France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.

The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, global financing reforms and climate action.

With the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering is expected to bring together African and French leaders to discuss economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building initiatives across the continent.

The presidency said Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France.

After the Nairobi summit, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the 2026 Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14–15.

The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” will convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore ways of accelerating economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investments. It is held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation.

At both events, President Tinubu is expected to present Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at positioning the country as a preferred destination for investment, while also engaging in high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.

The President will be accompanied by senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda summit.
