Train attack: Terrorists release new video, threaten to kidnap Buhari

The abductors of the March 28 Abuja-Kaduna-bound train passengers have threatened to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The terrorists made the declaration in a new video obtained by The Star on Sunday.

This is coming barely a few weeks after the terrorists were reportedly paid N800 million to secure the release of seven abductees.

The convoy of Buhari was later attacked on its way to the President’s hometown, Daura, Katsina State, ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The attack on Buhari’s convoy occurred on the day the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents attacked the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abuja and freed over 800 inmates, including all the terrorists in detention.

However, the insurgents, in the new video, threatened to kill the remaining train passengers in captivity and sell out others if their demands are not met by the government.

The gunmen were also seen flogging the victims in the forest.

Speaking in Hausa, one of the terrorists said: “This is our message to the government of Nigeria and just as you have seen these people here, by God’s grace, you will see your leaders; your senators and governors will come before us.

“These ones you are seeing here, we will keep some as our slaves and sell them off just as our Imam told you in the past.

“Just like the Chibok girls that were sold off, we will equally sell these ones as slaves. If you don’t adhere to our demands, we will kill the ones we need to kill and sell the remaining.

“By God’s grace, El-Rufai, Buhari, we will bring you here,” the terrorist stated.
