Transfer: Real Madrid mull £100m bid for Rodri as Gyokeres flies to London for Arsenal move

Real Madrid are ready to make a £100 million bid to lure Manchester City star Rodri to the Bernabeu this summer.

New Madrid managing Xabi Alonso has targeted Rodri as his priority after Real were thrashed by PSG in their Club World Cup semi-final earlier this month.

While City boss Pep Guardiola will be reluctant to lose the Spain midfielder, whose absence for most of last season was a huge factor in his side surrendering their Premier League crown, Madrid believe the Etihad outfit might be tempted by a mega-bid.

Everton and West Ham are set to battle it out for Douglas Luiz as the player plots a return to the Premier League.

Chelsea are advancing in talks for Dutch pair Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons.

Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has agreed terms with newly-promoted side Sunderland and is “excited by the challenge” – but Bayer Leverkusen coach Erik ten Hag wants to block the move.

Newcastle are set to improve a bid for Yoane Wissa after the forward left Brentford’s pre-season training camp.

Liverpool are waiting for Atalanta to sell Ademola Lookman to Inter Milan before offloading Federico Chiesa to the Serie A side.

Newcastle United are expected to choose Nottingham Forest chief football officer Ross Wilson as their preferred candidate for the vacant sporting director role.

Liverpool are now the Premier League’s biggest spenders, with their summer spree now verging on £300 million.

Meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres is expected in London tomorrow (Friday) to sort final contractual details with Arsenal, Sky Sports reported.

It is thought the plan is then for Gyokeres to join up with the squad in Singapore and complete his transfer from Sporting.

The clubs have agreed a deal worth up to £63.8 million. That is arranged into a £55.1 million (€63.5m) guaranteed fee plus £8.7 million (€10m) in add-ons.
