A female student of the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, has died after being hit by a tricycle near the institution’s campus.
Witnesses said the tricycle rider, identified as Fedelis Zakka from Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area, was transporting female passengers from Kayarda, Obi LGA, to the university gate when he struck the victim, Ifeoma Blessings Nweke.
Police reports indicate that Nweke was attempting to cross the road with friends near the campus speed bumps when the tricycle hit her.
She was first taken to the university clinic and later referred to the National Hospital, Abuja, where she died while receiving treatment.
The suspect has been arrested, and the tricycle impounded at ‘A’ Division, Lafia, as investigations continue.
