Troops destroy ISWAP camps, intensify offensive In Yobe

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) hideouts during intensified clearance operations targeting fleeing terrorists in Yobe State.

Military sources said the offensive, led by troops of Sector 2, is aimed at flushing out suspected ISWAP fighters who escaped from the Lake Chad Islands and the Timbuktu Triangle following sustained military pressure in the region.

According to the sources, the terrorists had attempted to regroup in communities around Gujba Local Government Area, prompting fresh operations to dismantle their remaining networks.

During the raids, troops located and destroyed several camps and logistics facilities believed to have been used to shelter and support the insurgents.

The ongoing operation is focused on the Mahdiyya, Lagarawa, Lamusheri, Ngarbai and Wulle axis, where security forces are carrying out systematic searches to eliminate remaining terrorist elements.

Military authorities said the operation forms part of sustained efforts to deny ISWAP fighters safe havens, disrupt their logistics network and prevent them from regrouping in communities across Yobe State.
