Troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion have killed four Boko Haram terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State in separate operations conducted early Saturday.
Security sources said the first contact occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on April 12, after troops of A Company received intelligence on suspicious terrorist movement along the Damboa-Chibok axis and deployed in ambush position at Mussa.
When the insurgents moved into the position, troops engaged them with effective firepower, killing four and forcing the rest to withdraw. Weapons and other items were recovered from the scene.
Hours later, at about 6:15 a.m., the same troops conducted exploitation operations ahead of Old Hyum, where they located and rescued three kidnapped victims from a terrorist enclave.
The victims, identified as Fulani from the Lagunasa community in Askira Uba LGA, are currently receiving medical care.
Clearance operations are ongoing in the area as troops work to deny insurgents freedom of movement along the corridor.
