Troops nab terrorist, recover weapons in Kano raid

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Brigade have arrested a suspected terrorist and recovered weapons and other items during a raid operation in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 10:30 p.m. on June 21 after troops acting on intelligence stormed a suspected hideout in Konan Dumawa village.

During the operation, one suspect was apprehended and several items were recovered from the scene.

The recovered exhibits included a Dane gun, a locally fabricated pistol, a locally made revolver-type firearm, four cartridges, three knives, two mobile phones, two pairs of scissors, an identity card, a locally made charm and two ATM cards.

The sources disclosed that the suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further interrogation as investigations continue.

Military authorities said the raid was part of ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements, preventing terrorist infiltration and tackling violent crimes in Kano State and neighbouring areas.

They reiterated the military’s commitment to sustaining proactive operations to enhance security and ensure the safety of lives and property across the region.
