The troops of Operation Forest Sanity, Nigerian Army, have rescued nine kidnapped persons during fighting patrols to bandit hideouts in Kaso, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this via a statement made available to The Star on Monday.
Aruwan noted that the troops, in an operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, engaged bandits on the Tantatu high ground as the gunmen abandoned their camp and fled into the forest.
The commissioner stated that the troops searched the camp and rescued nine kidnapped victims who were abducted around the Gurara Dam area of Kaduna State.
He listed the rescued victims to include Salama Oliver, Husseini Odu, Danjuma Jakanwa, Ezekiel Garba, and Obadiah Moses.
Others were Taiwo Isaac, Buky Isaac, Ado Adamu, and Maigari Shekarau.
Aruwan added that the troops also recovered 90 cattle left behind by the fleeing bandits, noting that the animals will be handed over to the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority for proper identification.
The commissioner stated that further clearance patrols to Bawa Rikasa hill led to the recovery of four motorcycles belonging to the bandits.
He, however, noted that the nine rescued persons will undergo further debriefing and examination before being reunited with their families, adding that fighting patrols will continue in the general area.
