Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and a commercial driver after they were abducted along the Daye-Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on Monday evening, September 21, 2026, following a distress call about an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, OPFY, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He said troops moved swiftly to the scene, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee.
According to Danja, all seven victims were rescued unhurt and subsequently subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical checks.
He said the victims were later handed over to relevant officials to facilitate their reunion with their families and school authorities.
The operation, he added, followed the troops’ response to the distress call concerning the abduction of the passengers along the route.
