Truck kills tricycle driver in Lagos accident

A tricycle rider has been confirmed dead in an accident involving a Volkswagen truck at Ekoro Junction in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident via a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Oke-Osanyintolu said on arrival at the scene of the incident, a Volkswagen truck laden with beverages and bottled water was found to have fallen on a tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, at the location.

Oke-Osanyintolu said preliminary investigations revealed that the truck suffered a brake failure while descending the road, adding that efforts by the driver to stop the vehicle proved abortive, leading to the crash.

He stated the impact of the crash resulted in the death of the tricycle rider, while the truck driver and two occupants of two other cars involved sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The LASEMA boss disclosed that the injured victims have been taken to the hospital for treatment, while the body of the tricycle rider was handed over to police officers from Ilewe Police Station in Lagos.
