Truck kills woman attempting to cross Lagos-Abeokuta expressway

A truck has crushed a woman to death at Dalemo on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State.

The South-West Area Commander of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Adekunle Ajibade, confirmed the incident which occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Ajibade disclosed that the accident, which involved only a pedestrian (woman) occured at about 9 a.m. at Dalemo, inbound Sango, on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

He said the woman, who was crossing the expressway, was knocked to death by the truck, which was driving against traffic.

Ajibade warned drivers to desist from driving against traffic to prevent unnecessary loss of life.

The TRACE official also urged pedestrians to be vigilant and always look well before crossing the road.

Ajibade said the vehicle had been towed off the expressway to ease free flow of traffic.

“The corpse of the victim has been taken to the mortuary, Ifo General Hospital in Ogun State,” he added.
