Trump: Why U.S. won’t kill Iran Supreme Leader now

United States President Donald Trump says the U.S. knows where Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is “hiding”.

Trump said Khamenei is an easy target but would not be killed for now.

The president stated that the United States could assassinate Khamenei but is refraining from doing so for now in order not to spark retaliation against American civilians and troops.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Trump to send vice president to Iran over Israel conflict

He wrote: “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding.

“He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.

“But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump wrote in a subsequent post: “Unconditional surrender.”
