Two women killed, house set ablaze by unknown mobs in Kano

Residents of Tudun Yola in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State were thrown into shock after unknown assailants murdered two women and set their home on fire.

The victims, Hauwa’u Yakubu and Zahra’u Aliyu, were both wives of Alhaji Ashiru Shu’aibu Usaini.

According to relatives and local officials, the attackers are suspected to have stabbed one of the women before torching the building.

The second wife was discovered dead inside the bathroom.

A stepson, Anas Shu’aibu, said the incident happened around midday while the husband and children were away at work.

“We knew nothing until my father called later in the night and asked me to come home.

“We found one body completely burnt, and the other locked in the bathroom.

“When we forced the door open, she was already dead,” he said.

He added that the family initially believed the fire was accidental but later realised the deaths were intentional.

Grieving husband Alhaji Ashiru described the killings as devastating and called on security agencies to identify and arrest those behind the attack.

“They killed my wives and set one of them on fire. I have no idea why anyone would do something so cruel,” he said.

Kano State Police Command spokesman, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators.
