Uba Sani commissions Kauru road, ends decades of neglect

Governor Uba Sani has commissioned the 22-kilometre Pambeguwa-Kahutu-Kauru asphaltic road, bringing relief to communities that had waited nearly five decades for a reliable transport link.

The project includes a span bridge connecting Kubau and Kauru local governments.

At the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Sani recalled that the journey from Pambeguwa to Kauru, which previously took about an hour, now takes less than 12 minutes thanks to the completed road.

He noted that Kauru was among 12 local governments that had not seen a single road project in the past 12 years.

“Previous administrations recognised the importance of this route and made efforts to construct it, but for various reasons, the project remained incomplete,” Sani said.

“When we broke ground on 27th August 2024, we made a solemn commitment to these communities. Today, we deliver a completed project that speaks for itself.”

The governor also promised to construct township roads within Kauru and address the town’s nearly 20-year electricity shortage.

He highlighted his administration’s broader infrastructure programme, which has initiated 140 roads spanning over 1,335 kilometres across Kaduna State.

“These projects are guided by data, equity, and a firm resolve to correct years of imbalance in access and opportunity,” Sani said.

“While many roads have been completed and commissioned, others are progressing steadily, reflecting our commitment to continuity and delivery.”

The new road, Sani explained, provides a reliable alternative route that reduces dependence on congested roads, shortens travel times, lowers transport costs, and improves the safety and efficiency of moving goods and people.

Emergency services, students, farmers, and traders are expected to benefit from better access to essential services and markets.

He noted that the road was deliberately routed through agriculturally productive communities to ease the movement of farm produce to aggregation centres, processing facilities, and markets, enhancing competitiveness and value addition along the agricultural chain.

“This road is more than infrastructure; it is a pathway to opportunity, growth, and inclusion for the people of Kauru and surrounding communities,” Sani concluded.
