Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has assured that his administration, in partnership with security agencies, is committed to ensuring the safe return of all individuals abducted from Kurmin Wali village on Sunday.
The Governor made the pledge on Wednesday while leading a delegation of senior government officials and security chiefs to console the affected community.
He emphasized that the government will not relent until the abductees are brought home safely.
“In the past two days, we have been working closely with the military, DSS, police, and the Office of the National Security Adviser to ensure the quick recovery of our people who were abducted from this important community,” he said.
Governor Sani stressed that the number of people kidnapped is irrelevant.
“Whether it is one person or one hundred, it is the responsibility of the Kaduna State Government to protect the lives and property of its citizens,” he added.
He condemned those using the incident for political gain, insisting, “We should not be talking about numbers or politics.
“We are talking about the sanctity of human life and dignity. That is why we will go to any length, in collaboration with security agencies, to ensure the swift return of our people.”
The Governor further assured that the state government will cover medical expenses for those injured during the attack.
He also revealed plans to liaise with the Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, to establish a military base in the community, given its proximity to known kidnapping hotspots.
While the military has curbed insecurity along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Governor Sani noted that bandits have moved deeper into the hinterlands, including areas near Kurmin Wali, which is close to Rijana, a major hub of banditry.
Additionally, the Governor pledged to construct a road connecting Kurmin Wali to the highway.
He instructed the Commissioner of Public Works to conduct a feasibility assessment ahead of the project. A Primary Healthcare Center will also be built in the community.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception by residents, Governor Sani said, “The people of Kurmin Wali, like all communities in Kaduna State, trust our government. We protect lives regardless of religion or ethnicity, and I am pleased they understand this clearly.”
In his remarks, the Agwam Kufana, Chief Dauda Titus, recalled receiving a distress call about the attack while at church on Sunday.
He refrained from commenting earlier due to uncertainty over the number of abductees.
Chief Titus appealed for the construction of the access road from the highway to Kurmin Wali and requested additional social amenities for the community.
The National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Engr. Emmanuel Tabara, commended Governor Sani’s leadership.
“You are the first Governor to visit this community. Despite conflicting information, you have acted decisively to rescue those abducted,” he said.
Engr. Tabara added, “The people of Kurmin Wali are behind you.
“Political detractors will not succeed in using this incident to diminish your popularity.
“We stand with your administration.”
He prayed for divine protection and continued success for the Governor.
