Uba Sani vows to compensate Kaduna residents affected by road projects

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has pledged not to demolish any citizen’s property without paying fair and adequate compensation.

Sani made the pledge while distributing compensation cheques to 122 households affected by a 15 kilometre Ring Road project in Kaduna on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The beneficiaries are located along the Danbushiya Junction to Danhono II corridor in Millennium City, Kaduna.

The governor said public interest should never justify injustice or unfair treatment of citizens affected by government projects, stressing that development must not impose hardship without compassion or promote progress without fairness.

Sani recalled that construction advanced after the project’s groundbreaking before some houses were identified within the project’s right of way.

He said the situation presented not only an engineering challenge but also a moral responsibility to protect citizens’ rights and dignity.

According to him, the government deliberately slowed aspects of construction to ensure transparent and equitable assessment of affected properties and utilities.

Sani thanked the affected households for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the compensation process.

Sani acknowledged the emotional and practical challenges relocation could impose on families.

He described the compensation as an act of justice, not charity, aimed at helping beneficiaries rebuild, relocate and continue their lives with dignity.

He said the administration had consistently compensated citizens affected by infrastructure projects since assuming office.

According to him, 189 households benefited under the Rigasa Township Roads Project, while 120 received compensation in Mahuta under the Rabah Road Project.

He added that 282 households were compensated between Magajiya and Albarkawa in Zaria, alongside other beneficiaries across the state.

Sani said 14 households from Audi to Kako, 86 from Dogon Bauchi to Kakiyeyi, and 33 along Kabala Costain also received compensation.

Sani disclosed that the administration had disbursed over N3 billion as compensation to affected citizens across various infrastructure projects.

He assured residents that compensation processes would remain transparent, verifiable, equitable and timely.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursuing development with justice, compassion and integrity.

He maintained that meaningful progress must protect citizens’ rights and ensure that no one is left behind.
