UK MEET Fellowship 2026 application closes today

Applications for the 2026 UK Media Excellence in Emerging Technologies (UK MEET) Fellowship will close today, September 22, 2026, at 23:45 GMT.

The fellowship is being delivered by the British High Commissions in Nigeria and Ghana in partnership with Imperial College London to support journalists and digital journalists covering science, innovation and technology.

According to the organisers, the programme is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to report on emerging technologies and their implications for society.

Key areas covered by the fellowship include artificial intelligence, climate and environmental risks, biomedical innovation, circular economy and electronic waste, as well as emerging technologies and their social impact.

Successful applicants will participate in residential training and practical digital storytelling workshops, alongside engagements with researchers, innovators and policymakers.

The programme will also provide participants with an opportunity to pitch for funding to produce an original journalism project.

Selected winners of the pitch awards will further have the opportunity to participate in a fully funded knowledge-exchange visit to the United Kingdom.

The organisers urged interested journalists and digital journalists to submit their applications before the 23:45 GMT deadline today.

The fellowship is aimed at strengthening media coverage of technological and scientific developments while creating opportunities for journalists to engage directly with experts and innovators in the field.
