UNICAL promotes 24 lecturers to professors

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) in Cross River State has promoted 24 lecturers to professorial cadre.

The UNICAL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, announced the promotion in a statement on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Obi noted that the promotion followed the approval of the 250th meeting of the institution’s senate, held on Wednesday.

Obi said the promoted academics include 12 lecturers promoted to the rank of professors and 12 promoted as associate professors.

She added that the promotion reflects UNICAL’s continued commitment to academic excellence and staff development.

The VC, who also chairs the UNICAL Senate, commended the various deans, heads of departments, and members of the Senate for their unwavering contributions to the growth and stability of the university.
