A drama ensued at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja on Wednesday, May 17, as the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, exchanged words with the Director-General of the LP Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun, over seats.
The drama began after Apapa and his loyalists confronted Osuntokun and other LP chieftains who were already seated in the plaintiffs’ gallery in the court.
The LP factional chairman asked Osuntokun and others seated beside him to vacate their seats, saying he is the rightful person to sit in the plaintiffs’ gallery.
The LP campaign DG, however, refused to give up his seat, stressing that Apapa has no right to take the seat.

Some lawyers later intervened to calm the situation in the court.
The LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the suspended National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, were also present in court.
The tribunal had, on May 10, adjourned the petition filed by the Labour Party and Obi against the election of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to Wednesday, May 17.
The tribunal made the declaration on the request for adjournment by parties to the petition.
The panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani adjourned after parties agreed on a time to exchange processes and responses.
